Your One Word Year

Why focusing on one word for an entire year will transform your life

Are you looking to improve your well-being in 2020, but are overwhelmed by all of the information out there? Then it might be time to consider simplifying your approach in our increasingly complex world.

I first heard about the idea of a one word year from my good friend Michael Iwanchuk. It was a couple of years ago, and at the time I didn’t think much of it. I had my own ambitions, somewhat of a scattered plan to follow, and the passion to fuel me.

I didn’t need to try another thing.

The next year, I decided to give a half-assed attempt at it. My word of 2018 was create. Most of my life up until that year was all consumption. I would listen to podcasts, watch TED talks, read more books, go to seminars, and just eat up as much knowledge as I could.

It reached a point where I decided enough was enough. If I wanted to help more people, I needed to start creating more.

So I started writing on Medium. As much as I could I just thought, create. I kept showing up and trying to add a little value to the world. Some days I didn’t get to…
